Our Plans

Good Hope Farm is in the process of establishing a small farm.

Our aim is to establish this site as a therapeutic centre where we would facilitate and organise various activities and provide work experience, both at the farm and at our local community farm shop.

What do we intend to do on our farm?

The farm will be open 4 days a week for our Special Needs farmers and 1 day a week for school and special needs colleges.

  • Activities on the farm include taking part in horticulture.
  • Cultivating seasonal vegetables, fruits and flowers.
  • Retail food preparation for the farm shop.
  • Explore and enjoy the natural environment.
  • Welcome local schools and special needs college for day visits.

We are looking for funding for a Hub Space. We need a room to accommodate at least 8 people to replace the old wooden shed we currently use.

We are looking for funding to build an access road. It's essential for wheelchair users or people with difficulties walking, plus any emergency access and essential deliveries.

Please visit our Application at the Good Exchange.

We are also hoping to get funding to create a wild flower meadow. The meadow will serve as a therapeutic and soothing environment for the young adults with learning disabilities and their parents and carers while bringing wildlife diversity to the farm.

The Future

Our future aim is to establish the site as a therapeutic centre where individuals can access nature, participate in workshops and enjoy therapies designed to promote well-being. When possible, we will offer treatments such as massages, homoeopathic and therapeutic consultations.

Restorative abilities

Contact with nature will bring recovery, well-being and relaxation.

Our garden will include colourful flowers, delicious fruits and vegetables, delightful fragrant herbs and a place for sitting and enjoying the restorative and uplifting benefits of being in nature. This is primordial for adults with Learning Disabilities, who often are limited in their experiences of the world and especially access to nature.

Sustainability

Sustainability and a balanced eco-system have become important topics in the last few years with the disappearance of poly-culture, the demineralisation of soil and the struggle of bees to pollinate.

We are planning to create a small but rich eco-system where flowers, herbs, vegetables and insects create the correct balance for a protected and abundant natural environment.

To maximize our own natural resources, we will have our own composts and rain collection. We will rely on recycling in order to avoid unnecessary waste, and improve our sustainability. We will cultivate seasonal produce and flowers to limit our carbon footprint and reduce food miles wherever possible.
